DAY IN THE DESERT (WOODS ...MOUNTAINS):
WATER - PLANTS - PERCEPTION

What would it be like...

There are at least two ways to experience nature -
practical and personal.

Practically, this full-day class will teach you how to find water
on almost any landscape,
and will introduce you to the uses (edible, tool-making, medicinal)
of one local plant.

Fiber from plants makes baskets, tinder, strong bow strings, clothing, and more...

Making food, medicine, and tools from plants.

But there is also magic in the woods, and many ways to see, hear and feel it.

One way to enter the woods' magic is to get the mind clear
so it can open and perceive richly.
Several ways of appreciating the land's beauty will be addressed in this class.

PRIMITIVE HUNTING SKILLS:
ATL ATL AND LONG DART

Stone tools

Stone and bone tools

Ask any hunter why he or she hunts; the answer won't always be (food).

Something special happens "on the hunt."

Learn to hunt the ancient way:

  • Make one of the oldest, most efficient and quiet hunting implements ever used by peoples of the Earth.

  • Slip silently across the landscape unnoticed.
  • Expand awareness and blend with the area.
  • Enter the hunter instinct, acting at lightning speed.

Tools, carving, stalking and throwing technique, and awareness of the primitive hunter will be taught in this class.

You will leave with your own atl atl, long dart, or throwing stick and know how to use it.
